It’s our tenth anniversary and randd uk are celebrating in style. We’ve had a busy summer raising money for charity through a skydive, 10K run, RANDD Pale Ale and charity business fundraiser. The party isn’t over! We’re exhibiting at SME Live on Tuesday 16th & Wednesday 17th October 2018 in Hall 1 of the NEC (Birmingham). We’re on stand J56 – come and have a chat with our friendly team about R&D tax credits, how amazing our freebies are, or the British weather.
SME Live 2018
After exhibiting last year at SME 2017, we’re excited to return to the revamped SME Live exhibition. Phil Tooley is also returning by popular demand to present on day 1 at 12.15pm. Phil is an experienced consultant for randd uk, a financial company specialising in research and development (R&D) tax credit claims. A diverse range of skills from corporate management to journalism equip Phil for producing successful R&D claims for qualifying businesses. Phil has over 30 years’ experience as a General & Commercial Manager within large multinational and small & medium enterprises. With charismatic flair, Phil will share how to grow your business with R&D tax credit experts; randd uk have been financially rewarding SME innovation for ten years.
R&D Tax Credits
The R&D tax credits scheme was introduced in April 2000 by the UK government to push innovation and boost the economy. The scheme is ideal for SMEs carrying out eligible research and development activities in any sector. Larger companies can also apply for R&D tax credits under the RDEC scheme.
Since inception in 2008, randd uk have awarded businesses with over £87 million (so far!) with a 100% success rate of claims. On average, we achieve over £50,000 for a first claim and rewarded clients with £18,553,506 last year alone. Yet many business owners are still missing out on money that they are entitled to.
Raising awareness and rewarding businesses with R&D tax credits is thirsty work. That’s why we’re giving away 500ml bottles of RANDD Pale Ale on both days of SME Live. So how does it work? The first twenty four people to fill-in a questionnaire on our stand (J56) will receive one beer bottle (if you’re over 18). Don’t worry if you’re running late, we have plenty of treats to take away. You can always come again on the second day to make sure you’re within the first 24 people.
The aim of the R&D tax credits awareness survey is to monitor the level of understanding in the UK about this scheme. Many Directors, decision makers and finance professionals across the country still have a lack of knowledge or are sceptical about R&D tax credits. A short conversation with randd uk can usually dispel any misconceptions or worries about claiming from HMRC.
At randd uk, we aim to maximise claim sizes with minimal time and effort required by clients. Steve Peeks, Managing Director from CCM said that he was “very pleased with the efficient work provided by randd uk for [their] recent R&D claim. [randd uk’s] information gathering matrix was useful and enabled our claim to be processed with minimum delay.” This was CCM’s sixth year with randd uk and Steve “would highly recommend [randd uk’s] services.”
After an initial chat to determine whether you have the basis of a claim, one of our experienced technical consultants will come out to visit your premise and run through eligible projects which will be used for writing a technical report. Meanwhile our expert team of R&D Tax Consultants, which include Chartered Accountants, compile the financial figures to submit to HMRC on behalf of the client to ensure that the process is smooth and the expected amount is received.
A large proportion of our new business stems from word of mouth recommendations from Accountants, clients and individuals. Yvonne Jackson, Partner at Clayton & Brewill Chartered Accountants (Nottingham) said: “We regularly refer our clients to randd uk and have no hesitation in doing so, knowing they take the time to understand our clients’ organisations, and provide them with expert advice in relation to R&D Tax Credits. All of the clients we’ve referred have been successful in securing credits as a result of working with randd uk.” Referring potential new clients to randd uk is mutually beneficial as you receive a percentage of our commission for every successful claim made in the contract, so you reap the benefits year upon year.
