UK makes gravity-defying 7.5 percent gain in aerospace

Despite the second wave of recession caused by the eurozone debt crisis, science minister David Willetts has said that the aerospace sector was valued to be worth in the region of 9 billion pounds ($13.95 billion) to the UK last year, and that the UK government has set themselves a goal of creating 100,000 aerospace jobs by 2030.

HMRC wrote off more than £5 billion in uncollected tax

The UK taxman has been accused of “waste & mismanagement” after a myriad of errors which has led to writing off more than £5bn that it is owed. HMRC’s 2011/2012 accounts showed that it overpaid around £2-£2.5bn in tax credits & underpaid up to £290 million as a result of fraud & error, said the report by the National Audit Office.
